Experience
Thank you for your interest in my tutoring! Please read on to learn about who I am and what I can offer. At this time (around late December 2017), I am seeking exactly one additional student. I will be happy to consider anyone interested. Tutoring is a serious engagement for me and I want to find a student that will take advantage of my uniquely deep expertise in mathematics, physics, and other sciences as well as my passion for teaching. I work with students of all age levels. I have had wonderfully rewarding experiences training students in elementary school to understand remarkably advanced mathematics--far beyond that which is expected at their age (this is in addition to canonical topics at their grade level). I have worked with numerous college level students, both as a private tutor in physics and mathematics and also as a graduate student instructor at UC Berkeley for undergraduate and graduate courses. At the older end of the spectrum, I have worked with those who's careers are behind them but who, for whatever reason, have a passion to learn what I can share about physics. I am proud of my work with all of these groups. ---Information about my background: My name is Sean Weinberg and I am a researcher in theoretical physics. I received my PhD in physics from the University of California, Berkeley as a member of the Berkeley Center for Theoretical Physics, and I have undergraduate degrees from the University of Chicago in Physics and Mathematics. I am now a postdoctoral researcher in the physics department at UCSB. When I am not busy with research, I devote my time to teaching, and I have significant experience in this area. I was a graduate student instructor at Berkeley for many undergraduate and graduate level physics courses. At the University of Chicago, I was a teaching assistant in several undergraduate calculus courses. I have been involved in private tutoring for over 9 years now. Potential students or parents should be aware that I am only able to work with one additional student at this time so I recommend contacting me as soon as possible to learn more if you are interested. Please let me know if you are interested in making an appointment! I will look forward to hearing from you.

Hobbies
I grew up in Cincinnati and went to the University of Chicago for college before finally moving to California for graduate school. Now it turns out I am staying here for at least another 2 years! As someone from the midwest, it's been a little weird living without any seasons, but I've adapted. I live in California because of my research position at UCSB which focuses on black holes, quantum gravity, and the theory that the universe is, in a sense, a hologram. I love hiking and climbing. I also happen to have been fortunate enough to visit Japan a few times for research purposes, so I know some Japanese!
