Private tutor in Santa Barbara, CA
Education
I'm currently a second year undergraduate student working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with an Emphasis in High School Teaching at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I currently hold a cumulative GPA of 3.46.
Experience
It's my goal to become a high school math teacher that will make a difference in California's Public Education System. I believe that every person has the capability of understanding math, and I want to help others conquer their fear of mathematics and gain a better understanding of its basic concepts. That's why algebra is so critical to success in mathematics because it is an essential building block. I've had previous tutoring experience in Algebra and basic math during my senior year of high school with junior high and early high school students. In my undergraduate studies, I've been taking courses such as Transition in Higher Mathematics (MATH 8) and I'm currently enrolled in Euclidean and Non-Euclidean Geometry (MATH 102A), both of which are catered towards prospective teachers who want to gain a deeper and better understanding of why basic mathematics work. I'm also currently a Resident Assistant at UCSB, so I have developed professional skills such as time management and conflict management. I was also Associated Student Body President at my high school, so I know how public high schools operate and have dealt with many students' complaints about school and education.
