Experience

After graduating high school I traveled to Kolkata, India for six weeks to teach english at the Piyali Learning Center, a small school for impoverished girls in a small village outside of Kolkata. It was the most life-altering experience of my life. It opened my eyes to a part of the world I never could have believed existed. I learned valuable communication skills and how to interact with people from a completely different culture form that of my own. I also scored a 2000 on my SAT in high school. I am an English Major at UCSB and have taken many classes on the subject. I am an aspiring teacher and would love the experience I would gain from tutoring.
