My academic career started at California State University-Long Beach, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. Next, I relocated to Tucson to complete my master's degree in classics, specializing in Greek archaeology, from the University of Arizona. Upon completing my master's degree, I started working at Pima Community College, on the East Campus, teaching lower level humanities courses. As a tutor, I specialize in helping others learn about culture and how these cultures interact with other cultures, but I am also able to help with composition and English courses. I feel that one of the most important roles of an educator is to encourage students to enjoy learning the subject matter, and that is what I aim to do when I present the materials to them. Sometimes, students learn to dislike subjects that they aren't able to excel in, so by helping these students to move beyond their first impression of the material, I feel as though I can aid the learning process. I believe in giving students control over their own learning outcomes, as this can help them to build confidence and succeed academically. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy traveling, attending cultural exchanges, reading, and studying mythology and folktales.
